Yet more speculation has arisen regarding Microsoft’s next home console, seemingly pointing towards a continuation of the multiple SKUs that were available with the 360.
According to the Digital Foundry report on GamesIndustry.Biz, sources have told them that the technology giant is likely to launch with two varying versions – similar to the 360′s Core and Premium models.
Whilst the first is defined as the traditional “fully-featured machine with optical drive, hard disk and backward compatibility aimed at the hardcore”, a second model is said to be “pared down” with an aim to sell for as cheaply as possible, likened to more of a “set-top box”.
Kinect will remain a focus, with sources claiming that there is a “strong likelihood” that it will end up being bundled with the machines.
Although this is currently all rumour and speculation – it is another element of a rapidly unfolding story.
The latest rumoured reveal period is at the Consumer Electronics Show in January 2012 [reported by Xboxygen].
We’ve come across a couple of rumored off-screen gameplay shots from the recently teased and highly anticipated Grand Theft Auto V, which is expected to hit the Xbox 360, Playstation 3 and PC sometime in 2012. The two shots we’ve found show off a possible layout of the newly re-imagined Los Santos area and a gameplay shot that looks pretty darned amazing, if I do say so myself. Are they real or not? You be the judge, right after the break.
